Ian Clayton

Ian Clayton

Ian Clayton was born on 4th September 1959 in Featherstone, West Yorkshire and is a jobbing writer, story teller and broadcaster being known as an author and presenter for Yorkshire TV.

He loves books, films and music. He is a traveller, a collector, a gatherer and is passionate about finding the voice of the common people.

Ian's most recent book, published as a Penguin paperback, is called "Our Billie: Learning to Live with Every Family´s Worst Nightmare". "Ian has taken the worst experience a parent can endure and has spun it into a love poem of such potency and tenderness that even grief takes a back seat... By the end of it we all love Billie; we all mourn her untimely passing, and we are all enriched for having known her. Joanne Harris"

Ian has also authored 'Bringing it all back home' which is "a music-powered helter-skelter of living and learning, as perceptive as a Bob Dylan lyric and as earthy as a Bessie Smith blues."

Captivating and passionate, Ian is a source of inspiration, speaks the language of and is truly in touch with local people. This was never more evident than at the end of the KGA launch when during his reminiscing after dinner everybody was so mesmerised with what Ian had to say, you could hear a pin drop.

Ian´s patronage exemplifies what the KGA is all about
